Backround of Make-up
Make-up originally comes from the African Middle Stone Age from over 100, 000 years ago. Of course make-up has developed from then. In those days they would use red ochre which is just an earth pigment. Pepole from back then would use this in wars mainly. In China they used stain their nails with gum arabic, beeswax and egg whites. These were easily found. The most royal colours would've been silver or gold and then later on it was black and red. Ordinary people (people who weren't royal) were forbidden to stain their nails. Princess Shouyang was known for her beauty and when she was walking in the gardens a plum blossom fall gracefully on her forehead. This exposed her beauty more. Girls loved it so much that they used decorate their foreheads with plum blossoms. This is a myth of how the floral design, meihua zhuang, came about. These types of make-up would not be used at all in these days. If you see someone who wears this type of make-up in town or anything let me know.
